Description:

A Group Of Studies Specifically Designed for Use With Point & Figure Charts

Tools to Define Potential Support/Resistance Levels

Automatic 45-degree Bullish Support / Bearish Resistance Lines

This tool automatically plots a 45-degree trendline on a point and figure chart whenever a double top breakout is followed by a double bottom breakout, and vice-versa.

Tools That Highlight Breakouts From Consolidations

P&F Symmetrical Triangles

This indicator plots a ShowMe dot on the P&F chart and optionally triggers an alert when a symmetrical triangle formation is recognized.

P&F Bullish/Bearish Catapults

This indicator plots a ShowMe dot on the P&F chart when it recognizes a Catapult pattern, which consists of a price thrust, a pullback of trading range amplitude, further testing of the end of the thrust, and then a one-box breakout of the consolidation area.

P&F Double Bottoms/Double Tops ShowMe.

This indicator plots a ShowMe dot on a P&F chart and optionally triggers an alert when a double bottom or a double top is broken.

P&F Triple Top/Triple Bottoms.

These ShowMe indicators plot a dot on a P&F chart and optionally trigger an alter when a triple bottom or triple tops is broken.

High-Pole.

The high-pole study gives an alert when a chart rises above a previous high by at least 3 boxes but then reverses to give back at least 50% of the rise. The reversal implies that the demand that was making the prices rise has given way to supply pressure. The pattern is a warning that lower prices could be seen in the future.

Low-Pole.

The low-pole study gives an alert when a chart drops below a previous low by at least 3 boxes but then reverses to give back at least 50% of the drop. The reversal implies that the demand that was making the prices drop has given way to demand pressure. The pattern is a warning that higher prices could be seen in the future.

A System Based on Point & Figure Analysis

P&F – Moving Average System

Few technical traders realize that many oscillators designed for bar charting also can be used on point and figure charts. For example, moving averages, momentum oscillators, and trend analysis oscillators also work in the P&F domain. Utilizing this feature, we at Trader’s Toolbox have developed a very effective trading system utilizing a combination of Point and Figure analysis with moving averages.

This system utilizes a combination of Point and Figure analysis with moving averages. The rules are simple: Buy on a double top breakout confirmed by the fast moving average being above the slow moving average and sell on a double bottom breakout confirmed by the fast moving average being below the slow moving average. The system has three inputs;

PRICE((H+L)/2), {Price value used in moving average calculation}
MA1LEN(5) -- {Length of the fast moving average}
MA2LEN(13) – {Length of the slow moving average}
