Description:

The TT3 Cycle Turning Point Indicator displays the timing patterns of pivot highs and lows in the form of green downward-pointing chevrons above the timing line for a pivot high and red upward-pointing chevrons below the timing line for a pivot low. This tool initially plots a half-size tentative turning point chevron when it suspects the presence of a swing high or low. This tentative plot may move as new pivot highs or lows are achieved, negating the previous tentative plot.

Tentative chevrons only occur for the most recent prospective turning point. Once a tentative turning point chevron is confirmed, the chevron changes from half-size to full-size and its position in time is locked into place.

The input, SENSITIV, is the same SENSITIV value also used in many other Traders' Toolbox swing-based studies, such as the ZigZag, AutoFib, and Linear Regression Channels studies. A SENSITIV value of 1 will display the timing patterns representing swings of the smallest magnitude, while a SENSITIV of 10 will display the timing patterns of only very major swings. To display roughly 5 to 8 swing turning points in a chart window, a SENSITIV value of around 4 will work with charts of any tradeable in any price range, using a chart bar spacing of around 6.

By observing the timing patterns of the cycle turning point chevrons, the user can identify repetitive cycles in the price swings. Some traders like to run the TT3 Cycle Turning Points indicator in two or more subgraphs, each with a different SENSITIV setting, in order to be able to observe both major and minor cycle behavior.
